Joseph Carson Wins 2018 Information Security Leadership Award for Community Awareness Category

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 12, 2018 Thycotic, a provider of privileged access management (PAM) solutions for more than 10,000 organizations worldwide, today announced its Chief Security Scientist, Joseph Carson, was selected as a winner of the 2018 Information Security Leadership Award (ISLA) Americas conducted by (ISC)², the world’s largest nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals. Carson is being recognized in the Community Awareness category for his work on Thycotic’s Cybersecurity for Dummies eBook.

The free eBook, Cybersecurity for Dummies, delivers a fast, easy read that describes what everyone needs to know to defend themselves and their organizations against cyberattacks – including simple steps everyone can take to protect themselves at work and at home. It empowers employees to understand and recognize the most common cybersecurity threats they face in their daily work and personal lives.

The ISLA awards program features accomplishments of individuals in the private and public sector throughout the Americas who are focused on making foundational changes in the cybersecurity sector. A judging committee of five members of the (ISC)² Advisory Council in North America reviewed the nominations and selected the winners based upon specific criteria and eligibility requirements.

“Most breaches at organizations happen through privileged accounts or by user credentials. I created this book to help individuals learn about how important it is to protect themselves and their company from cybercrime,” said Carson. “This book explains, in simple terms, how cybercriminals target their victims, what employees can do to reduce their risk, and how they can personally make it much more difficult for attackers to steal passwords and gain unauthorized access to sensitive information.”
