Dear Valued Customer,

As a provider of your privileged account management software, Thycotic is a committed partner in helping you protect your critical IT assets.  With the intense scrutiny you face in protecting your IT infrastructure and meeting regulatory demands, the stakes have never been higher.  Today I am pleased to share some very exciting news that will provide even more capabilities to help meet the growing requirements of your IT organization.

Today, Thycotic announced an agreement to acquire Arellia. I wanted to share this information with you and provide an overview of what this acquisition means to you as a valued Thycotic customer.

Arellia is a terrific company that is a leading provider of privilege management and application control software. They have close to 100 customers that protect more than one million systems with a world-class development organization. Following this acquisition, Arellia’s products will become key components of Thycotic’s robust suite of PAM solutions.

Let me tell you a little about Arellia and why this makes so much sense for us.  Organizations today want to lockdown desktops for better security and lower management costs. Applications, software installers, and many system utilities require administrative rights to function. Organizations face a dilemma to either give administrator access to end users or face limited functionality.

Arellia’s Application Control Solutions solve this dilemma by enabling seamless elevation of approved applications for users while removing unnecessary rights from untrusted applications. By limiting privileges available to business users and applications, the desktop can be locked down while protecting the organization from advanced attacks. Arellia delivers a Windows privilege management and application control solution that stops the progress of most malware based attacks at the endpoint, limiting an attacker’s ability to move beyond their initial point of entry. This is an area that Gartner refers to as “Superuser Privilege Management” or SUPM and Thycotic has always had a gap in this area – until now!

With the acquisition of Arellia, Thycotic will offer more comprehensive protection against privilege-based attacks targeting both business and IT users.  Arellia’s integrated privilege and application control solution, combined with Thycotic’s privilege credential vaulting provides a comprehensive endpoint privilege management solution from unrivaled in the industry.

We believe there will be significant benefits from this acquisition. We look forward to an even more successful future together!

Best regards,

Jim Legg
